It is amazing how this market reacts to unfound short term news. If there is some real news or rumor later today MSFT and DOJ/states have reached settlement, the stock will trade at 125 in a blink. After hitting 119-15/16 and closing the 99 at 116.75, MSFT has retreated a good 10 - 15 points on this BS news. At the end of the day, it is the product and earnings that matter. The trail will go through hearings starting 2/22 and then will go through remedies phase for 3-6 months. Then MSFT will appeal and that will take till end of 2001. Then supreme court will take till end of 2002 or 2003.
