Free Broadcast: Must listen for IDC holders:

InterDigital Comm. Exec. Interview
2000-01-12 09:00:00 EST
Executive Vice President Charles Tilden (IDC)

It can be obtained from
radiowallstreet.com

This is my take from listening to this broadcast:

Positives

Large portfolio of patents
Sufficient cash to ensure the company will add to patent portfolio

Negatives

Major corporations have withdrawn from alliances with IDC
Patent portfolio is not mainstream since Nokia paid $30 mil for wide ranging
licensing including future patents
Company cannot predict long term licensing revenue, even give a minimum
baseline
Analysts drop coverage

Final Take
It is clear that IDC is primarily a research company and has patents that they have
been deriving revenue from sporadically. The EVP himself said wait 2 more years
to see how things develop.

Question is what is a safe price to wait at while we see what develops. If the
technology was lucrative the company would be taken over at around $15 ( 750
million )late last year.

Using Nokia's recent payment of $30 million and assuming 10 other key licensees
we have a license revenue of $300 million
Adding assets of 100 mil and 100 mil goodwill a fair value is around $500 million
which puts the stock back at $10.

However using a continual license revenue of $100 million per year ( no basis for
this assumption ) for the next 5 to six years justifies the current market value.

Maybe they come up with some great new patents that will make them a true
player.

BIG PICTURE

IDC needs a CEO not an INTERIM president.

Not sure how the analysit thing works BUT seems to me that the people at IDC
could find 1) a CEO... 2) an analyst somewhere to start tracking the company's
potential, and if this is not resolved SOON...I have serious doubts they can
dominate anything.

MARKETING and STRONG LEADERSHIP (in terms of company image to
outsiders) are THE main problems I see with IDC. Take care of those two NOW
otherwise IDC might follow the same fate as the guy who invented the television.
You know who I'm talking about? Exactly.
