You can buy odd lots from Merrill Lynch and round lots, i.e. multiples of 100 shares, from any of the big U.S. brokers. Problem is they have a big difference between bid and asked. You wind up paying about 2% brokerage. Hook up with a company that will buy it for you in Tokyo and you save much of that. Some employees at Merrill Lynch will tell you that you can't buy less than 100 shares. That's because they don't know. If you meet this situation, insist they inquire further. LOL
