Construction?

Tony Mathews puts up a straw house house and proceeds to demolish it. I feel the need to redirect the demolition.

Brix is a partnership between IDTC and a real estate type firm. IDTC will not be building houses. It will work with existing companies to make sure the Fiber is brought into the homes or businesses. IDTC will probably focus on installing any computer-type equipment somewhere in the complex that collects all the LAN traffic from the area and forwards it to their hubs. It may also add equipment needed to handle telephony and cable and other needs.

I repeat, it will focus on the computer and managing bandwidth side and added services. Is that clear? This is what they already know how to do.

But, since the users will now have an amazing amount of bandwidth, they can sell or bundle lots of products that only make sense in this case. I gave an example of videophones that would only work well between sites connected by this kind of bandwidth. There are many others, such as allowing people to rapidly access their files on remote servers, and thus not need a full PC, or renting software to be run remotely, ...

The key is that they gain access to the customers, often in a way that precludes any competition.

And, you show your complete lack of understanding of the business. You think people can just go to a hardware store and install cabling. What idiocy! That lets you, at most, connect several computers with a LAN. The cabling has to be connected to big pipes heading out into a huge network. IDTC is likely to do the latter.

Brix, being a combined company, will include the people with real estate and construction expertise and the people from IDTC with technological know-how. Brix will indeed do some minor construction, but it will not add bathrooms or other real construction items.

In any case, I suggest Brix will be spun off into a company where IDTC will own 40-70% and the other partner(s) and the public and maybe shareholders will own the rest.

The future is that IDTC will be in any businesses where it feels it can make a profit but these businesses will often be independent. Anyone not interested in such a conglomerate should stop complaining and invest in something you can understand. You are not going to change the direction the company has chosen. It sees synergies and opportunities beyond the imagination of people that write like you.
