Anyone wondering how the copper Athlon is going in Dresden? Here's a quote from David Wu (ABN Ambro) report on the semi industry:

"A stronger Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - $34 7/8) with competitive products at both the high end - Athlon and low end - K6-2 should be a more credible competitor; now that manufacturing shift to 0.18 micron aluminum at Fab 25 is
going smoothly and earlier indications of the 0.18 micron copper process at Fab 30 in Dresden is encouraging. Calendar 2000 should be the first year since the 486 that AMD would not suffer from design or manufacturing issues. While AMD may still not achieve meaningful penetration in the enterprise space, it takes away some upside to Intel's earnings this year."

In the rest of the report he debunks the idea that Win2K will help Intel much until Q4, certainly not in Q1. But then he sees a brighter future for Intel in 2001 than AMD. :-<
