Mr. Charles Desjardins reports
Investment.com has arrived. After more than six months of development work by the company's dedicated content, design, programming, marketing and technical support teams, the Investment.com site now offers an impressive suite of free, Web-based tools to assist users in conducting online research about almost any kind of investment -- and then being able to act on the results of that research. The new tools include Web-based electronic mail, an on-line financial calendar and a variety of investment-related research goals.
Investment.com is being designed to combine everything investors need to research financial information, conduct investment transactions, and track their entire investment portfolio -- including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, insurance and collectables -- on-line. By covering the full spectrum of an individual's investment portfolio, Investment.com plans to provide users with the first one-stop shop for all of their financial needs.
"Investment.com has been designed to empower investors and become the first end-to-end global on-line investment portal," said Charles Desjardins, president and chief executive officer of Investment.com. "Our philosophy is simple: use the Internet to give people original, timely investment information and tools that allow them to take control of their complete financial situation."
On-line investing is one of the fastest growing areas on the Internet. In fact, Forrester Research predicts the number of households investing on-line will almost double from 2.4 million at the start of 1999 to 4.6 million by the end of 2000. With a growing list of investment options and service providers, investors are increasingly looking for research, tools and services that will help them gain control of their total financial picture.
"Everyone is concerned with their finances, but most people don't have the information and tools they need to make informed investing decisions," said Geof Wheelwright, chief operating officer of Investment.com and popular Financial Times of London and National Post business journalist. "From mutual funds to real estate to insurance, most people today track their finances in a file full of paper. It is our goal to allow people to take control of their financial future by providing easy-to-use on-line information, tools and services."
In order to empower investors to make the right investment decisions and take control of their finances, Investment.com delivers expert investment related content; financial tools such as investment calculators and calendars; and message forums. In addition, Investment.com is developing relationships to become an unbiased investment services provider through online transaction facilities including banking, stock trading and collectable auctions. To date, the company has developed partnerships with CompuBank in the United States and Citizens Bank in Canada and EcMarket.com to deliver these services.
Serving members through partnerships
Investment.com has formed alliances with the following global market leaders in order to deliver comprehensive content and the full spectrum of investment options:
CompuBank: Headquartered in Houston, Tex., CompuBank is the first virtual National Bank to receive a charter from the office of the comptroller of the currency (OCC) and approval from the Federal Insurance Deposit Corporation (FDIC). CompuBank will deliver on-line banking and loan services to Investment.com members.
Citizens Bank: An electronic subsidiary of VanCity Savings Credit Union, Citizens Bank of Canada delivers banking and loan services to Investment.com members.
Stockhouse.com: One of the fastest growing and most dynamic financial Web sites on the Internet, Stockhouse.com delivers financial content.
Microsoft: Investment.com is integrating Microsoft Passport into Investment.com, which will allow members to easily purchase investment-related books, videos and training course materials and make purchases at Investment.com auctions. Microsoft Passport allows on-line shoppers to purchase items with greater ease by eliminating the need to repeatedly type the same shipping and billing information when ordering products or services at different Web sites.
VNU: VNU is a leading global publishing and information company. VNU will deliver on-line financial content to Investment.com.
ON24: California-based On24 is the exclusive external provider of streaming audio and video to Investment.com
Screaming Media: Located in New York, ScreamingMedia is an aggregator and distributor of content on the Internet. ScreamingMedia will also deliver on-line financial content to the Investment.com site and, in turn, carry Investment.com original content for redistribution.
