January 12, 2000 Dow Jones Newswires Digital Island, Ensim Corp In Application Svc Pact SAN FRANCISCO -- Digital Island Inc.'s (ISLD) network services are being used by Ensim Corp., a Mountain View, Calif.-based software maker. Digital Island said in a press release Wednesday that Ensim is using the services for its ServerXchange, an application hosting platform for Internet service providers. Also, the two companies formed an alliance to provide application deployment services at the edge of networks. By creating multiple "private servers" that share the same hardware and resources of one server, ServerXchange lets Digital Island deploy and manage the application hosting requirements for multiple customers without harming the performance of any of the server's users, Digital Island said.
