One way to answer your question is to go to either: any assembler in your city, or a compusa or even to UBID.com. What you will find is that it is easy to buy a PIII. What you may not like is the price you have to pay. The issue is that plenty of PIII can be had if you want to pay considerably more than the superior athlon chip. Most people dont. Additionally, for most people, the K6-2 or celeron chip will do perfectly well.
