Any way to value the affiliate holdings?

With arrangements like Cabletron's holding of Efficient Networks, holdings of what is now a public company are somewhat easy to value and can be a substantial asset. How are these Newbridge holdings valued, knowing that they have been doing this for some time and that some may still be private? Are they a substantial asset or just noise to anyone determining the value of the company.

Zbyslaw, interesting article in Ottawa Citizen this morning.
In the article it said NN said the Seabridge deal is not closed. Meaning deal being done. Two bidders Alcatel of France and Marconi of Britain have move up the potential ladder. Marconi who bought Fore is now considered a good fit.

Regards
Glenn

In FP this morning their is an article on C5 talking about NN. And the last line reads...U.S. analysts have been told that Newbridge may announce it has found a buyer in the next two weeks...
So I wonder why all the volume :-)
