In July of 97 the first of the indicators started giving sell signals. In August of 97, the main indicator (the NYSEBP) gave a sell signal which was followed by a stronger sell signal in the beginning of Oct 97. Most piffers would have been out of the market in August of 97, any that were still left would have jumped ship in early October.

So, I am not sure what your point is regarding P&F.

But you are right, individual charts look the most bullish at the top and most bearish at the bottom. The indicators that I keep referring to though are contrary indicators and are specifically used to identify the tops and bottoms.

bb,
I have posted the NYSEBP chart as a reference. The year is listed at the bottom. The months can be identified by the numerics 1-9 for January through September and then A, B and C for October, November and December respectively.

I will be happy to point out what is considered a sell signal and a buy signal.
