Wolfie,>>>As Harddrive margins died and profits declined as a percentage of the total price of a PC's total sales price….so goes the CPU…Hardrives are near the same tech as a CPU...Hardrives are commoditys to PC builders and soon so shall the CPU.<<<

Bravo, bravo. As a worst case scenario, your musings are near perfect. In a Goldielocks economy, where most things are price to perfection, it wouldn't take much to make your scenario reality.

One area that I might add to your worst case scenario is the inevitable management screw up to add to the calamity and free fall.

By management screw up, I don't mean the evitable technicial screw ups as they race into uncharted technical roadmap territory.

By management screw up, I mean things like the inability of management to explain their accounting philosophy in credible terms - without sounding like they have something to hide.

They have to be able to explain it credibly in sound bites and also be able to defend it in deep background discussions.

They should have built up by now a certain degree of trust and a number of IOU's where whatever they say is taken at face value.

Their inability to face up to this weakness and their continued denial in this area could conceivable add untold turmoil in a confusing conference call. Burkeites and their ilk will wreck havoc if the door is left open with statements that smack of ambiguity.

Break a leg,

Mary

Wolffie - Re: "This future brought to you by "

Thanks for the DOOMSDAY Scenario.

You have covered every negative point to the max.

I think you neglected to add that Intel employees are all fed Stupid Pills every morning as they enter their respective lobbies.
