First they give the stock away, then they buy it back. That money is given away. I think in math it is "transitive" property.

A=B
B=C
therefore,
A = C


Contrast this with Dell, which buys stock with earnings (not borrowings) and reduces the sharecount when it does. And
executing price discounts via options, etc. They only
do the give-away to a few select execs.
