Dear Happy Golfer Tom from Australia: thanks for your report that folks are honked off at 'cdma' for lousy service during the transition. I think our (otherwise) beloved w molloy missed your point entirely. It doesn't matter if the carrier blew it by not installing enough base stations: lousy service is lousy service and the average bloke doesn't give a flip about the technical distinctions. I bought my daughter a Thin Phone and told her it would change life on this planet (mainly by holding/connecting calls with quality and consistency) and it didn't, AT FIRST. So she thought her father was nuts (no real news here) and Qualcomm was screwed. Turns out she had a bad handset and the new one works as advertised, so dad's still iffy but at least the Q is redeemed.
Hope they get it right soon: we have to get such a tidal wave of good news coming from Australia and Asia that we blow right over Europe. Keep us informed. Mike Doyle
