I totally agree with you, and I value your presence over on our options thread, so don't be a stranger! :-)

You'll see I posted again on this subject this morning.

Each person's psychology is interesting. Some have nerves of steel and can daytrade a portion of their portfolios. I find buying calls that are not at least a few months out makes me too nervous. I've learned this about myself. My instinct is to go at least several months out.

For selling puts, I find that I get too nervous unless I'm intimately familiar with a stock. In my case that's only a handful, but that's fine.
