MPEG4 sounds very exciting. How far are we from real-world implementation? And how soon before CUBE makes a single-chip codec for it? I'm assuming that software decode is possible, as we discussed here recently for MPEG2, yes?

Even on my new machine, streaming video from the internet is not that great. I'm hoping DSL and these new MPEG solutions will change that. Earthlink tells me that GTE will come to my house Feb. 4 to put in the DSL, but they say GTE won't give them any timeframe as to when they will show up, so I have to stay home all day (by the way, I hate GTE, they are expensive, their service sucks, and Pac Bell was a much better company to deal with). I ordered DSL on November 16, so it only has taken 2 1/2 months to get it installed (assuming that it actually happens on the 4th).
