According to the announcement by Intrenet President and CEO Eric C. Jackson, this implementation, which will provide important driver, corporate, and customer benefits, commenced in the fourth quarter of 1999 with a successful regional pilot program. Intrenet has entered into a contract with QUALCOMM, Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM - news) whereby the entire Intrenet fleet, including Roadrunner Trucking, Eck Miller Transportation, Advanced Distribution System, and Roadrunner Distribution Services business units, will be outfitted with the QUALCOMM OmniTRACS© system, a leading-edge transportation technology. Intrenet selected QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS system after evaluating a number of other communications systems. The Company found that QUALCOMM's solution was the most reliable and cost-effective while offering the widest range of features that directly met its specialized needs as a national flatbed carrier. Intrenet plans to use the mobile information management system to achieve a higher lever of customer service through real-time freight and vehicle tracking. This capability provides both Intrenet operations and the customer the ability to schedule and execute precise, just-in-time shipping. In addition, OmniTRACS system implementation will improve the overall operating efficiency of the Company.
