For those interested, the January 17th issue of Business Week has a nice article about Japan's NTT DoCoMo. Here are some comments I found interesting:

Everyone in Japan knows i-mode stands for a white-hot cell-phone service from NTT DoCoMo.

NTT's i-mode is the only network in the world today that allows you continuous access to the internet via a cell phone.

I-mode has already become an addiction for millions of Japanese. Teens keep their handsets on round the clock and conduct rapid fire exchanges of messages until their their batteries give out.

To protect it's lead, DoCoMo keeps up a brutal research pace. At a state-of-the-art research facility in the Yokosuka Research Park, Southwest of Tokyo, about 700 engineers are testing transmission equipment, cellular phones, palmtops, and car navigation systems based on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). The technology was developed by the U.S. military and commercialized first by Qualcomm Corp. but DoCoMo enhanced the basic platform with it's own homegrown mathematics.

But Tachikawa (the CEO) is not ignoring the West. Last March, he struck a deal with Sun Microsystems to incorporate the company's Java Program, starting this fall, and to collabrate on 3G.

In November, DoCoMO opened two U.S. subsidiaries in Silicon Valley for research and promotion of wideband CDMA.

CrackerMan, you cannot say that, you big rhinestone stud

some TA for anyone who gives a damn
we sit at the lower boundary of a nice upward trendline
that trendline is defined by a pre-Christmas upper 110's and mid-130's last week

most every trendline in the past has held up
they usually mark the beginning of new upcycles

is it me, or has emotion really tapered off, died down?
the stock market has succeeded in the last week to rip all exuberance out
it also has managed with this tepid reflex rally to restrain any deep despair

I say we are ready to rock & roll
this market wants Greenspan to get his silly speech over with
the PPI/CPI numbers were nonevents, as expected
we aint got inflation, despite what crusty Fed governors think

the real threat is continued deflationary pressures
in my opinion, neither inflation nor deflation is now a threat
the only threat is stupidity from policy makers in Washington, Bonn, and Tokyo

apologies to all except my nemesis for my outbursts
he is an easy target when I get all gutwrenched
he will remain unnamed since he searches for his name in posted messages

WHERE ARE THE MORAL STANDARD BARRIERS?

What happened to all the moral standard barriers that pop up on this thread when someone they don't like goes a fowl or at least they think he/she has gone a fowl of the selectively imposed standards of this thread?

So where was the moral outrage when your primary cheerleader posted the following?

Upon her awakening I had prepared the tenderest of Tube Steaks.

Surely the above remark is NOT acceptable to the viewing audience of wives, husbands and children, right?

Where are you mslawyer, RocketMan and all the other folks that protest against vulgar remarks, profanity and off color aliases when the infractions are done by those less popular or disliked on this thread.

Truly this thread is peppered with hypocrites...

Okay, I'll play along.
Poor her. I'd think she'd want a tough one.
Okay, that was uncalled for, too.
Sorry thread.

Out of line Voltaire. Clean up your act.

I am not interested in hearing about your anatomy or sexual exploits. There are plenty of other places on the net you can take that...more than plenty.

I can't belive this place anymore.
