On the subject of narrow market breadth -- I think it has two causes, neither of which is an indication of a correction. 1) fund managers like liquidity. 2) lots of individual investors (like me) want to own the one leader in a sector.



Let's not forget a third. Companies like INTC and CSCO have outperformed smaller companies such as AMD and COMS in eps gains over the past decade. This is justifiable to the premiums they receive since every year companies like Intel and Cisco seem to become more entrenched in the markets they serve.

Wider market breadth may actually be unhealthy if in fact the market is giving higher valuations to cos with poor eps performance.
