Steve, The S and P committee is very secretive. It is interesting reading on the S an P website how they make sure that their analysts etc.. have no dealings the committee. I don't think they leak any information out. However, as we saw the market cap going up, speculation will grow. My guess is that some funds may be buying for this reason as well. What happens if JDSU goes over 100 billion. It will be unprecedented (to the best of my knowledge) to not have a company that large not in the index. It is not even a dot.com. The stock is still on a roll and 100 billion may not be that far off. Right now might a good time to add it---i had my fingers crossed since last October and each new addition disappointed me. Many of the additions did have much higher revenues even though the market caps were 5 to 15 billion. I still check their website regularly for what i feel is inevitable. I have also seen street.com article a few months back about what could be possible additions. Yes, JDSU was one of the prime candidates according to that story. Here is the critea: spglobal.com Somewhere on the site is how the committe meets to determine the new additions/deletions. I forgot where i saw that information. I don't mind if it does not get added for a while as the stock is on a climb up anyways. I would love to see it added when the stock hits around 250/260 range. Then the news would provide enough momentum to push it well above 300.
