Williet..Dell is not trying, nor should it, to play in the league of EMC, NTAP, IBM, or CPQ when it comes to storage..Dell is new to the party...and is currently devoting a very small amount of resources to the effort...Dell has taken a small stake...will have a high% growth rate over the next couple yrs....(on a small $$ base)....offering a simple, low-cost solution in low/middle end segments....flying below some of the bigger players radar.....and, all the while, try to figure out how to move up the food chain....past success gives encouragement (workstation, servers)..however, each time it is a different ball game...but, if Dell can figure it out, this could be a nice growth segment indeed....in any case, the % gains for the next couple yrs. should be impressive...even if the $$ amount are low....

ConvergeNet was also a defensive play...given Dell did not (and could not) know what was going to happen to Clariion (given the acquisition by EMC)...Dell may also enter into some sort of reseller relationship with EMC...filling the HP void...that would seem to be a (short-term) possibility...
