ED:

Income Averaging was stopped when the top tax bracket was
capped at 28%. There was no need to average, as the income
would always be taxed at that same rate.

When Congress took the taxes to over 40%, there was no interest in restoring this little bit of fairness.

Congrats on the royalties. It is nice to have one's efforts
recognized and rewarded.
