Zeev,

I'm watching the tape with my finger on the sell "button".

This could be the profitable exit I was waiting for. In the meantime I am window shopping for INTC calls. Maybe the Feb 90's.

Back to the quote screen!

So with all the excitement about RDRAM machines flying off the shelves at Fry's (in Dallas) and other superstores, I decided to stop by the Fremont Fry's Electronics this morning to do a "RDRAM Check".

I first went to the PC department and spent a few minutes looking at the high-end PCs (mostly HP). I couldn't find any systems that listed RDRAM so I stopped two of the guys working there and asked if they had any of the new Rambus-based HP machines. I might as well have asked them if the knew the density of the moon; they had no clue what I was talking about.

So I headed over to the components area to check for motherboards and RIMMs. There were no RIMMs on their giant MEMORY FOR SALE board. My heart soared as I took a couple of steps to the motherboard area, though. Two employees were pulling stuff out of a shopping cart; one of them was holding up a continuity module and saying something about Rambus (he then tossed continuity module into a small bin on the floor). I walked over and asked if they were seeing much volume in Rambus memory. "Not at 1000 bucks a pop," he said. Then he added that there weren't any processors that could take advantage of it yet (the 800Mhz, that was). I explained that the clock speed was actually 400Mhz and that data was captured on both edges. He replied "yea but even the Athlon bus only runs at 200Mhz". At that point I realized there was an education issue that I wasn't going to solve in 15 seconds.

I spent a few more seconds looking at the motherboards. There's still just the AOpen board (about 15-20 in stock). There's a slot for the VC820 though none on display, and no inventory on the shelves.

Needless to say, not a satisfactory experience. I'm going to check some of the other local Fry's, as well as a CompUSA and see if the knowledge level is any better.

Dave

I am thinking/hoping for a rise to maybe 88-89 today.
Unrealistic, I suppose, but I am looking for that.

My order is in to sell Jan90Calls at 5 1/8. (is that Don singing - off key again). I do like your idea of intc feb90calls. I bought some of those early this week, and would like to see a nice kick in the pants UP after the earnings announcement. I am prepared for even a kick in the seat, just in case. <g>.

Did anyone notice the huge spreads on RMBS today? As much as 7/8. What is up with that?
