Explanation for drop & recovery today: (pasted from my post on Yahoo's panl thread) At first I thought it was just market makers taking out the stops, which happened in a BIG way, (I was watching live) to gather shares for an expected announcement (perhaps the patents mentioned earlier in the thread that haven't made a press release yet). But it lasted too long so I dug around to find on RB's PANL thread a reference to a PR from Genesis Microchip (GNSS) announcing a new chip to reduce lcd panel costs. That probably put the scare into sellers. BUT... and it is really important to realize this, this GNSS chip is only a signal processor, not a panel. While it allows the manufacturer's to use lower cost lcd panels, it does nothing to reduce the manufacturing cost of those panels! They are still difficult and expensive to produce, consisting of a couple million transistors on a glass plate. PANL's oled technology stills holds the promise of far better brighter displays at much better resolution and greatly reduced manufacturing cost. No off the panel chip will reduce LCD panel costs to bring the total cost down to oled levels. And you'll still have a backlit, higher power consuming, coarser pixel display. I believe that once this reality sinks in, PANL's price will come right back up again, so treat this as a golden buying opportunity that won't last long, I used it to triple my investment in PANL so I'm obviously biased. Do your own DD, but I'm sure I'm just preaching to the choir on this board. Subsequent message: If you read my previous post you'll get the details on why the drop should not have taken place. I went to Thompson's Iwatch site and saw about 1/3 today's trading volume was intitutional- about 120,000 shares. If those were dumped on that PR from the chip maker by someone with lots of shares without complete understanding of the technologies, it would explain the extremeness of the drop- 2 points in about 20 minutes. I happened to have a live "10 most abruptly negatively changing stocks" display onscreen, and was dismayed to see we made at least #3, before I stopped watching and started scrambling selling another position so I could load up on PANL for the turn around when it occurs to people that the drop is unfounded. Hope I didn't bore anyone. -Ted
