Who knows where it will close. >> profit warning? I hope not :) << No reason for MSFT to warn when they have earnings Tuesday. Their quarter ended 2 weeks ago. Surely they would have known if they were going to miss. Furthermore, when there were rumors of MSFT missing their quarter a week ago MSFT said they weren't changing their guidance. I highly doubt they would imply that they weren't going to miss, then pre-announce a few days before earnings. Doesn't make sense. That's why the market is responding positively and shorts are covering.
