There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Intel and DELL are doing significant things in the Unix space, in particular provisioning of ASPs, and software like that produced by MigraTEC is an ingredient in such solutions. The reason DELL would not develop such software (or Intel, for that matter) is that it is a small part of the solution and it would be hard to re-use the technical capability acquired to build such a product...

MigraTEC is one of a number of companies in that space, and the others I know about are larger and closer to the big players. Migration Software in San Jose comes to mind, they are just a short distance from SUNW and have several ex-SUNW execs on staff. I think they also work with BEA and HP... several of the bigger players including IBI also do some of this type of work (automated porting and re-hosting).

Most people doing server consolidation are looking to either in-house staff or the consulting organizations of their favorite vendor. IBM is big in that business, as is CPQ services. So make your own call on MigraTEC. I would have expected a Dallas company to be big on Telco stuff, seems like a strange place for a company doing general purpose Unix migration work.
