The QUALITY of earnings are suspect. I'm looking for a gap-up tomorrow and then down.

..and that lovely amortization of goodwill line is awfully intriguing, too. I am reserving comment 'til I get a look at the whole 10-Q with all the footnotes, though. -mb

What's more interesting is that analysts had been guided to expect 280 million in "interest and other". The additional 228 million added an extra 7 cents a share pretax. Nice way to make the number. For the year they almost gained 100% on interest and other from year ago levels adding a gain of around 20 cents to the earnings this year (pretax). Looks like their earnings from investment are outperforming the earnings from business from a percentage standpoint.
Maybe Intel should become an investment company and forego chips.
