Petz - <Actually, I'm glad they did this. If the R&D charge is mostly IR&D of acquired companies, then their quarter was really OK, but not great.>

You won't mind if I get a more qualified opinion on interpreting the balance sheet, will you?

Petz, <Intel will explain that the i820, CC820 redesign costs, RAMBUS subsidies, etc., etc., are only one-time costs that it have now been put behind.>

You might have to come up with other examples of "one-time costs." 820 development is definitely not a "one-time cost," not even the scramble to fix the September bugs. CC820 is not a redesign; in fact, it has always been on Intel's plans even before the 820 RDRAM fiasco. "Rambus subsidies"? Please.

I'm sure you guys would have had a field day had Intel merely met expectations. (And few of you were even expecting that much.) Thanks to Intel beating them by six cents a share, the negative spin no longer sounds very negative anymore.

Sure, Petz, Sure !

AMD will have a GREAT quarter - and exceed Intel's $2,400,000,000 EARNINGS - that's Profit, Petz, which starts with P and rhymes with B which stands for BILLIONS - 2.4 of them !
