Salomon Smith Barney analyst Jonathan Joseph had forecast revenues of $8 billion and was pleasantly surprised by the extra $200 million reported. But he said the huge earnings upside derived in part from shrewd financial engineering, not microprocessor engineering. According to Joseph, the company realized four cents more than he?d expected in income from the sale of stock in other companies.

Given the above, what do you think will be the reaction to the stock price tomorrow? After all, income is income even though some of it is not coming from your core businesses.

Thanks for any comments.
