I'll be willing to wager that your DSL is being routed through different nodes on its way to QC. Try and download Neotrace neotrace.com and ping the different servers to QC. You can get their IP addresses in the continuum client file. What I did was find the one which had the least number of hops and the fastest ping time. Then I preset my QC client continuum file to select only that server. You could be on the same server that worked fine with your 56K connection and have a lousy connection through DSL because of the path your ISP has chosen for you. I have never used DLS (don't have it in Fayetteville, NC), but if you have different access lines, sometimes that makes a difference, too. But "dialing in" the fastest server route will make the most difference. When charts freeze up it is generally a data transfer issue. Hope this helps.

Matt

Your equipment and problem sound very much like my experience. The first week with my new dsl (about 2 months ago) I had the same situ. I called my phone company, 3 days running, and they came out quite quickly. I think they were actually trying to solve the problem and create a good image for dsl.

Turns out the line they hooked up for me had another modem running on it, intermittently. They also admitted, somewhat sheepishly, that my true speed did not test very well. They knew this from day one.

However they fixed the line problem and ever since dsl has been superb. I signed up for 384 up and down. However I get a consistent 750 down since they cleaned up the connection.

I may be having a similar problem. I just started using Qcharts on my Mac with 600 mg of memory, running through Virtual PC. The feed worked for about and hour and a half this morning and then my 56K modem clicked off. I was able to get it back twice but only for a few minutes, now nothing. I'm checking the hops and it varies between 10-12 connections.

This could also be a Mac-related problem. I've sent an email to Qcharts but due to their support demand it may be a while before I hear from them. Any suggestions in the mean time would be appreciated. Thanks, Julie
