Killer call--> {b} Killer car--> Peter--> Phelps--> Xeyes--> Killer car {Elm}?
.
Hmmm .... If Killer is someone she knew, I like it much, especially because it maximizes the time for the subsequent known events to occur. Other than "who," the problems/questions I have with it are:

1. If Killer "planned" her murder, isn't: enters car(apt.)--> exits car
.for keys return--> re-enters car
, too much exposure risk for Killer?

2. Did he tell her to not tell anyone? Why? Could he be sure that she didn't?

3. Wouldn't Killer have to be someone she didn't just know; but also trusted?

4. With those reservations, I even like it with the possible variations:

A. Killer call--> {b} Killer car--> Peter--> ......Killer car {College or ??*}

B. Killer call--> {b} SJ walk--> Peter--> ........ {same as yours}

C. Killer call--> {b} SJ walk--> Peter--> ......Killer car {College or ??*}
.

{b} = dropped-off the book for her friend. BTW, in that regard, if memory
.serves me well, in the note to the friend, Suzanne wrote something akin
.to, "I'm sorry it took me so long ...." For that reason, I think Suzanne
.didn't have "plans" with her friend, was just going to give her the book.

* I think Jeff mentioned that she would have likely been seen on Elm. I don't
.know what would be a better "pick-up" location close to Phelps Gate.
.
Some may ask why she didn't tell Peter Stein. Depending on the reason given by Killer, I don't have a problem with it. As I mentioned in another post, what she said to him is likely the absolute truth. {Some may say, "A lie by omission as opposed to commission." }
.
So, what type of person, what relationship with Suzanne, and what reason for the confidentiality ?

Re: Suzanne being dropped off in front of Phelps Gate

Suzanne met Stein on the Old Campus. Stein told me Suzanne was walking toward him. He also told me she was just about to drop off the keys to the car she had borrowed (at a police substation under the Phelps Gate arch). Had Suzanne just been dropped off in a car she'd have logically already dropped off the keys as she would already have passed under the Phelps Gate arch to be on the Old Campus. Had that person been the killer then she'd have likely doubled back after dropping off the keys and never been on the Old Campus. Thus, I think we can say with close to certainty that Suzanne walked from her apartment to Phelps Gate.
