Vol -

The shorts may run ofr cover just before earnings but I think we have a whole bunch of shiny new shorts here and they've done quite well in the last few days. Just as we all look to seeing $200 again they look to seeing $100.

New shorts are sticky shorts and if we are lucky they just might be dumb enough to hang around expecting to get some more of a drop!!! So my guess is that we might no see much of a pop unitl the very afternoon of the 25th, if even then!!!! We might just have to sit and wait till the morning of the 26th. Then if our short benefactors are still in and the earnings are as we all hope they will be, .........

Best regards,

L

I think the shorts are going to be too nervous not to cover before earnings. Many, I think, are going to look back at what happened the last time QCOM reported earnings. As I recall, QCOM actually closed a fraction down the day earnings were announced. The market closed, QCOM announced earnings and the split, and the next morning? BAM! QCOM started its latest meteoric rise.

A short with anything but nerves of steel and very, very deep pockets is going to want to avoid being short when earnings are announced like the plague.

There is a certain amount of danger in expecting a split and not having it happen, so it might be a good idea to not talk it up. <g>
