Never heard of Pirus. Let us know if you learn more. I have little concern for new competitors at this point. NTAP has established its dominance, has fielded a tremendous sales force, has built strong value chains, is making profit. It's R&D has built a significant barrier to entry.

Buying competitors (other than EMC) is speculative, imo. Staying the course with NTAP is investing.

...start-up company called Pirus. ...alternative in NAS...

Havn't heard of them, all I came up with on a search was a software company named Pyrus and a west Texas wildflower called 'pirus', plus a few Greek references. Need a full name at least.

Generally I don't chase startups, 9 out of 10 will fail one way or another no matter how good they sound now, though of course that 1 of 10, you might luck out and make a lot of money.
