you are ignoring the entire point of the discussion. DELL can make a $499 PC cheaper than CPQ or HP, no question in my mind. But CPQ and HP don't NEED to make money on PCs, DELL does. So when the revenue base from PCs decays, DELL gets hurt worse, since 80% of their revenue is PC related, whereas less than 30% is in that space for CPQ and HP.

I would point out that 1999 was different for DELL too... let's hope 2000 is NOT a repeat. I think your optimism is a little misplaced, given the last 12 months.
