No have not asked my broker. I use schwab and etrade. Asking them a question like the would be a total waste of time :)

If it really does not work, I am sure there is someone here that knows enough about the way the brokerages work that they will tell.

I would not use is personally. I am of the idea that if I am in the right stock they can short away. If I am not in the right stock, maybe the shorts will wake me up and I will get out :)
