LindyBill: No particular point in worrying about whether it was best to buy the Q when the tornado started or soon thereafter or not, since this thread did not exist when the Q's tornado started.

Therefore there was no pertinent discussion of the Q's tornado until the spring of 1999 here.

So as far as this thread is concerned, its moot.

But it is an interesting exercise as far as the GG principles are concerned.

Naturally I maintain that the sooner after it is clear that a gorilla's tornado has started - buy.

That is consistent with the approach outlined in the book.

Since we are all trying to learn here, the timing of a move into a gorilla is of considerable interest, no?

For me, as will surprise no one here, once I see a potential gorilla in the areas I have studied in some depth and am comfortable with in the overall technological setting, sooner beats later.

And if you know what you are doing and choose wisely, the sooner in while the tornado is in process, the better. And the more profitable.

Perhaps being consistent with the book is not wise as other factors may override, and as Emerson said "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". I would opt for consistency even so.

But I defer to Mike on that of course.

Best.

Those who get in early on these possible tornadoes, and turn out to be right, will get on this thread and chide the rest of us for being too timid.

Nah...this is a great forum.
Occasional friendly needling is all i ever see.
never been anywhere else to see so many people working so hard to help others be successful in their investments.

But we old bulls would rather "walk down the hill and get em all!"

I thought you only got one. Q

I realize that elon is clearly not in a tornado. Nevertheless my trader instincts where screaming at me to buy buy buy.

On the other hand, I believe cree is in an led tornado.
I think gmst is tornadic also. Pretty clear to me as i see the continuing profliferation of gem equipped tv's in stores here.

Same, only more so, on Rambus, Exodus, etc.

Those who get in early on these possible tornadoes, and turn out to be right, will get on this thread and chide the rest of us for being too timid.

I took on EXDS a month ago as a way of trying to contribute to my favorite thread, in the same way as Chaz is spearheading the Project Leader effort.

I provide information on EXDS because I think it is a King, in a tornado.

At no time have I counseled you or others to buy it. I have been receptive to those who have advised me to hold it lightly, and have repeatedly mentioned it constitutes < 1% of my portfolio.

I would never chide you for not buying it early enough, or for being timid. If my posts on EXDS lead you to believe I would "gloat" or chide, then I will refrain from posting.
