From Bloomberg report on Greenspan speech:

Analysts at the speech said Greenspan's remarks suggested a
rate increase of no more than 25 basis points was likely at the
Fed's Feb. 1-2 meeting. ``There's no reason to think that we're
near the edge of a precipice,' said John Lipsky, chief economist
at Chase Manhattan Corp. ``Gradual action is called for.'
