Server farms hosting apps, accessible via web, wireless and wired accessible. Benefits to MSFT and users...Precludes software piracy, (which might allow lower pricing), allows as needed, on time upgrades, might eliminate some on site IT personnel, allows down-sizing of CPU on client side (perhaps), pay as you go, and only for what you use and number of users, MSFT can get an accurate count of the users, freedom of movement, (use it on the go), eliminates current distribution costs/mechanisms, (some say costs might remain same..different beneficiaries), don't have to guesstimate the units to package for sale, allows total control by MSFT or other...and more. Down side.. connections might fail, or be over loaded, (only when you need it..of course), less privacy, no mo' free buddyware, greater chance of hackers screwing with your data, (as opposed to off line usage), costs might go up, rather than down, (and whatcha' gonna do about it, boy?) perhaps harder to change to alternate software. Speech activated..allows freedom of movement without the keyboard..also cuts down on carpel tunnel syndrome..increases vocal tunnel syndrome. New file system?..Are you SURE he isn't fightin' us?...LOL. It did say file system, as opposed to file MANAGEMENT system. I'll hope for the best...that our's will be a sub-set. S.
