The old-style Intel launches are only effective when there's no serious competition." Very good point. That is probably one of the reasons why Intel is "releasing" processors earlier now. However, even with this competition, Pricewatch can be a good indicator of availability from distributors (and therefore vendors). AMD and Intel wouldn't shut the door on distributors because they are still important.
