Citidude <I see AMD getting an easy $5 to $10 pop in the next two weeks, and not a so farfetched price of $80 to $100 by the end of summer. No intentions of being coy or "cliche'-ish", this is truly IMHO. Have I missed something here? or, Do I have misconceptions about what people are really feeling here?>

There are definitely people here with similar perspectives! Today's discussions have focused on Intel due to today's earning's release. The thread's posted estimates for earnings, etc. may be found here Message 12497200.

EDIT: Very interesting to compare the AH quote of $37.75 with the average estimates from the contest. AMD has progressed steadily up!

ps: Elmer's estimate of (0.62) was from early November and more recently he was a little more optimistic.

You are not the only one... I have never owned AMD until about a month ago. I bought some shares at around $27 if I remember correctly... I am pleased with the investment so far, but fully expect that this is just the tip of the iceberg heres why:

1. AMD cpus have come to be as fast as Intels. Both by clock speed and by benchmark. People can inflate their egos here on the thread spitting hairs over this for time to come, unless one company clearly pulls ahead of the other.

2. AMD offers the ONLY serious choice in X86 style CPUs over Intel. Cyrix has fallen way behind.

3. Much of the overseas computer market is maturing much like the USA did over the last 20 years. What's different this time is there is a viable choice.

4. The worldwide demand for CPUs is going to remain enormous. This is why Intel is having trouble filing all the orders. So there is ROOM for competition.

5. I like underdogs (in the right circumstances). Intel was an underdog in a VERY similar position not too long ago. I believe AMD's time has come.

good luck,
cAPSLOCK

Citidude, There are a number of "Intellabees" on this thread who fell it is their task in life to sow discontent here and vent their spleen on AMD. Some even work at Intel, some were fired from Intel. As times go by you will recognise them and see them for what they are......currently jealous and enraged at the successes of AMD.....go figger.

Hi Citidude:

Don't think you've missed anything at all. What used to be a cakewalk for Intel in the higher tier markets with its PWeeII and PWeeIII has now become a neck and neck struggle for them.

The superior architecture of the Athlon has not only rewarded AMD with claim to the title of "THE WORLD'S FASTEST PROCESSOR" but at least equally as important has rewarded AMD with "THE WORLD'S HIGHEST YIELDS" while at the same time "THE WORLD'S EASIEST MIGRATION" to higher MHz processors...

All this and more will become readily apparent, imho, with the earnings release next Wednesday.

A successful test, on large volume, of $38 (i.e. today(?) prior to earnings, will see a rapid approach to AMD's all-time high of $48.50 as there appears to be little supply overhang beyond $38.

Next week's earnings should provide any thrust required to successfully test AMD's all time high of $48.50 as, imho, comparative analysis of AMD's earnings will clearly demonstrate "the high quality" of AMD microprocessor earnings relative to Outel's.

Nice to see someone else projecting prices beyond $100 in the near term...DRBES are you listening?

<Have I missed something here? >

Probably some of the posts on this thread!

<or, Do I have misconceptions about what people are really feeling here? >

I think you do. I have been, for a while now, calling for stock price north of $60 between Q4 and Q1 earnings. That is a very nice return by any measure. And to be sure there have been other folks more aggressive than that.

For very near term (like hours), I was thinking may be we can touch $40 today - looks like we are not quite there yet.

I am already concerned that there are no real bear voices on the thread. Any more bullishness would probably concern me more ;-)
