More on Ponikvar, this time an order in West Virginia having to do with insurance. Not sure I understand exactly what it is, but I'm sure someone smarter than me can pin it down to the details...

While the Nevada database lists two entries for Sansea, the older (now defunct) listing shows that Mr. Ponikvar is a current or former Scottsdale, AZ resident.

Nevada records also show Ponikvar as RA, President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the "Trebor Financial Group, Ltd." sos.state.nv.us

re. "the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996"

This is going to be interesting.

Apparently this Act was created after the Oklahoma City bombing. It has lots of facets, including restitution of victims of certain kinds of crimes:

shall apply in all sentencing proceedings
for convictions of, or plea agreements relating to charges for, any
offense--
`(A) that is--
`(i) a crime of violence, as defined in section 16;
`(ii) an offense against property under this title,
including any offense committed by fraud or deceit;
or
`(iii) an offense described in section 1365 (relating to
tampering with consumer products); and
`(B) in which an identifiable victim or victims has suffered
a physical injury or pecuniary loss.

So that tells you something about the possible natures of the crime that this guy was convicted of. (Anybody want to guess it was fraud?)

The following link
gacdl.org
brings you to a site where you can download the 100 page text of the Act.

That link also contains an interesting form letter, related to another facet of the Act, that criminal lawyers are suggested to send to their clients, suggesting that they appeal any earlier criminal convictions before April 1997, before a deadline imposed by this Act.

That might help explain, coincidentally, the timing of Reed's appeal of his criminal conviction for fraud:

Reed appealed his conviction, which was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on January 27, 1997. United States v. Dorian Reed, et al., 107 F.3d 23 (11th Cir. 1997)

next post: docket for Robert Ponikvar's criminal trial.

Recall that Ponikvar was named with Jeanette Wilcher as a defendant in the Gillaspie civil case last year. In that case, the plaintiff's accused the two of running a big HYIP scam on the plaintiff.

Recall also that, as Kerry reported, the Maricopa recorder's office shows
<<a lien of $30K imposed on Mr. Ponikvar in 1997 by the Department of Justice. The document contains the following wording: "Department of Justice Notice of lien for fine and/or restitution imposed pursuant to the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996">>

Kerry,

It shows a lien of $30K imposed on Mr. Ponikvar in 1997 by the Department of Justice. The document contains the following wording: "Department of Justice Notice of lien for fine and/or restitution imposed pursuant to the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996

Did we ever find out what this was all about?

Dockett is here: siliconinvestor.com
