I really don't know what kind of impact Transmeta will have. So much hype, it's hard to live up to. My feeling is that they are doing nothing more than a VLIW chip for the embedded market.

As for "code morphing", that's probably more compiler tricks than anything else. I have no idea what Linus Torvald is doing there, unless Linux is the main OS Transmeta is shooting for.

As for WRS, we have to keep an eye on Linux in the set-top market, not so much because of Transmeta, but because of what others set-top technology companies, such as Tivo, are doing.

Set-top box is just one of the many markets WRS is in. There is no need to think Linux is taking over the world, because it's not, even though Linux investors think so.

Khan
