GTSI Wins Air Force SSG IT2 $140 Million LAN-WAN Contract
GTSI One of Five to Capture Two-Year BPA

CHANTILLY, Va., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Government Technology Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTSI - news) today announced that the Air Force Standard Systems Group (SSG) chose the Company as one of five awardees for its IT2 Network Products Blanket Purchase Agreements. Awarded by HQ/SSG's Commercial Information Technology Product Area Directorate (CIT-PAD), the BPA has an initial term of two years, and is valued at approximately $70 million per year for all competitors.

The BPA is for a nonmandatory contract for the sale of network products and related services, becomes the third IT2 BPA that GTSI has won. GTSI also holds BPAs from SSG for printers and rugged portables.

''We're excited to have won this BPA,'' said Jim Dunn, GTSI's vice president of business development. ''The award recognizes GTSI's strong history of providing networking products and services dating back to the 1980's. We applaud SSG's efforts to implement these attractive BPAs and are honored to be among those who have earned an award. We believe the breadth and depth of our network product offering will provide SSG's customers with the complete solutions they want.''

''We've participated in several CIT-PAD acquisitions over the past year,'' said Dr. Joel Lipkin, GTSI's senior vice president of sales and customer support. ''This is one agency that has mastered the ability to award BPAs and other contracts to benefit their constituency. SSG and GTSI have a long working relationship that has benefited Air Force and DoD users worldwide for many years. The CIT-PAD program office and Gunter contracting have made an extremely effective transition from IDIQ contracts to BPAs and developed a process that works for both the Government and contractors. We look forward to working with them over the next several years.''

The CIT-PAD is delighted to have GTSI in partnership with the Air Force as one of the prime Blanket Purchase Agreement providers to help us meet the DoD warfighter's mission requirements for both network products and services. According to Lt. Col. Dan Altobelli, Hardware Division Chief, the award to GTSI, ''gives us a breadth of network products and related services covering many areas essential to meeting the Air Force information superhighway requirements. We are looking forward to a successful, productive partnership with GTSI.''

Tax revenue will be better than expected. The federal government won't need to borrow as much, and will buy back some bonds. No significant inflation. Bond yields could decline. The CPI number was good.

Five years of good numbers. How long can this last?

From wsj.com:

The Labor Department said Friday its Consumer Price Index increased 0.2% in December, following a more muted 0.1% gain in November. When the usually volatile energy and food components are removed, core prices again were subdued, increasing 0.1% in December, following a 0.2% rise the previous month.

The monthly figures fell short of Wall Street expectations, which called for a 0.3% rise in the CPI and a 0.2% increase in the core index. That should damp speculation that the Fed may be inclined to boost interest rates by an unusual half-percentage point next month.

On-line brokers could go higher here with the increased trading volumes.
