I just watched Greenspan's speech on CSPAN. My favorite line was "If a trend cannot continue, it will stop." There is always something for everybody in a Greenspan speech. One minute he sounds like he's telling you to short the market, the next minute he's telling you to buy tech stocks. My read is that he does not want to go down in history as the guy who broke the bubble. I don't know why he didn't retire a few weeks ago when he had the chance to leave with his honor intact, and leave somebody else to take the blows when the bottom falls out.
