Blue, that we so often think alike is uncanny - Bill's been on my mind too ... when i saw the news about his liberation from the business end of what must be The Thing That Grew So Big Beyond All Comprehension Or Control - now getting back to what he must be the best at in the world or it wouldn't have happened in the first place, had to give such a Whoop for him the cat reprimanded me for startling her. Makes me happy to see you're verklempt for him along the same lines, GR8 cyber pal ... with our hearts in the sector it makes it worth it. We probably can't guess what he'll think up next! What A New Milennium Announcement This Is!!
My thoughts are turning to the past "Back To The Future" - so there was Bill, back in the 70s in The Bay Area... sitting around with his pals surrounded by a merry mess of computer parts, enjoying whatever libations may have been popular at the time. He gets a dreamy look on his face, and says "You know, these things are just overgrown calculators As Is. The capacity is so much greater... i want to write up a language for a program that could function in a small space of unused room on the drive that could run these PCs to do so much more than they can do now. And i've been thinking... it'd probably be possible to write another program to put all the workings into files and codes, and then yet another program so they all could be shared through the telephone lines through the phone numbers to go to central locations run by computers so everyone that wants to could read them. (referring back to your awesome definition of The Internet Is The Collective Unconscious, Blue...) It'd be like you could sit down and type stuff out and have an OOBE experience without passing out. Far Out, Huh?!" The other guys were used to this kind of talk from Bill when he got onto his inventions ... answered "Yeah Bill, That's Far Out" and "Cool". Who woulda thunk it?
"He's Got Everything He Needs, He's An Artist, He Don't Look Back"... Bill Gates Is Free! Can only imagine how that guy worked his @$$ off during the day and what his dreams at night must've been, able to invent and implement what he did for the benefit of Us All. Betcha he jumped in the air clicking his heels together after making his Announcement - Wheeeee!
Wanted to brighten his day, so i wrote him an email earlier on billgates.com (checkitout, that's indubitably him) ... if he ever reads it i doubt he'd mind me sharing it with our tread called TECHRIDE on the gnetSI site his old pal Paul Allen takes a shine to ....
"Getting Back To Your Artwork - Congratulations!"
Hi Bill,
We met at a party in Bezerkeley with the Decision folks (flying saucers & rockets, cowboys and indians video arcade computer games, remember?) years ago in the '70s. I was with a boyfriend who worked there at Decision. Doubt you'd remember me, that's alrite - but that's why i'm saying "Hi Bill" again at this great turning point for you. Even back then, you were A Legend.
I belong to msn.com, and am also a (small) shareowner of MSFT. Traded it nice a time or three. Want to say my Aunt says "Thanks, Bill!" for her electric wheelchair. Saw your show on 20/20 or Dateline (forget which) where the guy knocks on the window of the burger place to grub some money and you gave him a nice bill that you signed. That Was Great!
AnEEway, just want to say - You and Some Others sure turned out to be Leaders Of Our Artists Of The New Renaissance alrite ! So there you were putting together computer parts in a garage, while i was on Telegraph Avenue selling batik dogscarf & t-shirt sets, matted pen & ink drawings, and limoge enamel mini-paintings mounted on coral - i'm a CCAC grad from right down the road in Oakland.
Just LOOK what you "Geeks" put together!!! KUDOS !!!!!!
It's fun to say "Hi" again after all these years. So glad you're doing so well, and mostly want to say.... WISHING YOU MUCH HAPPINESS IN GETTING BACK TO YOUR ARTWORK... You must be so excited! So you'll be involved major in the software design aspect again - can't wait to see what you come up with next! Your ideas and Company are a great Masterpiece Of Our Time and will be written up in history for all time. And it sure beats Michelangelo's workday - better than struggling with a scaffold sweating painting cherubs on a ceiling... LOL
Have A Wonderful Time!
Best Wishes,
Joan
