Ratman......Airports

CIMA Jim,

By the way you signed your post...I assume that the Commission is growing. This is good....the Commission should have a very good year.

This is the year that the credit card companies get together and figure out a solution to the 5x fraud rate for internet transactions. They need our technology...but must be together in launching it......and of course Ratman is waiting to pounce!

I think the best national role out of the technology would be at airports. I have posted before that Delta Airlines is now using a laser bar scanner to scan boarding passes at the Jetway.....and that these new machines seem to have the hole cut out in just the right place for an index finger scanner.

Should the FAA and airlines get together....and get this technology in place......a passenger would put down an index finger at baggage check in...and another when they board the plane. The airline would have a fingerprint record of their passenger list.....and would also know for sure that the individual is boarding the plane with his baggage.

The index finger print record could also be cross referenced in a second with the "known terrorist" database.

Would there be Ratman pickets?....Sure. But I think 99.5% of the flying public would welcome the security....and the pickets would fail to gather any support.....It would be perfect. Ratman would be handed a bus ticket.....his first time out.

I think the airline who does this first....will, in fact, gain from the experience....and get brownie points from the public.

Just my opinion....but I would love to see this be the first big roll out of the biometric technology.......What better way to introduce MILLIONS of people to the technology?

And it would be in the best interest of the FAA, airlines, credit card companies, banks, and IDX ......to pitch in and fund the application. Make it work, get it going......roll it out. Making money on this first application should be a secondary concern....IMO.

Why would credit card companies want to help fund a national roll out of the technology at airports?.......Because it would make the roll out of the technology in their business much easier.....just a little bit down the road.....and credit card companies need this technology in the worst way.

IDX, Master Card, Visa, The FAA, and Delta should smoke some cigars, play a round of golf.......and hammer out a plan at the 19th hole......and do it now.

First in....wins.
