It is may be the seed of classism (we would have to consult Mr. Jaeger on that), but it could not be the seed of racism, since "rednecks" are by no stretch of the imagination a race.... ....It is true that the Greeks were crucial. It is also true that they had a strong sense of debt to the Egyptians and Babylonians, and that the beginnings of Greek philosophy were in their colonies in Asia Minor, now mainly Turkey, so that there is reason to think that the stimulus of Levantine culture was crucial. Speculation about the racial underpinnings of culture is fairly futile. For example, why have the Greeks never recovered their ancient glory, even though they are among the purest of descendants of ancient peoples?..... ....Sex is a way of acting out our yearnings.
