Speaking of the release of the eps for Intel, yesterday I was looking at CBS Marketwatch headlines to get the number. It appeared initially at 0.61 then refreshed at 0.69 with no mention that the first number was an error. In fact the first number just disappeared! Elsewhere the headline was all the same- 0.69. Some people are becoming very desperate and they seem to be taking crazier and crazier means to achieve their goals.

Steve, I don't think it was a trial balloon. I think Intel has been preparing to fake the 69 cents number for several weeks, setting up the analysts and pumping the media. My big question is why they are running the game this quarter instead of some other. I have three possibilities: 1. insiders want to dump at higher prices. Not very likely. 2. They have a large acquisition in mind and need a bloated stock to pull it off. 3. The Shaft Chips (CopperMine) aren't selling and they are trying to pretend they are, hoping to stampede the sheep in the channel into suckering in on them. I think #3 is slightly more likely than #2, with #1 much less likely.
