What you are missing is that RR is Media one's crown jewel. att wants to get a stake in RR so that they can distribute telephony products to the homes that RR passes. Remember, T's LD business is losing margins (see ITXC and other IP carriers) hence, they have to enter the more lucrative local market.
Mike M (from Maine) Incidentally,...I am quite surprised re: Frank C's comments about TWX cable problems in NY. I live in sparsely populated Northern Maine (the sticks...we just got toilets last year) yet RR is now available to us at $34.99/month. We don't even have an AOL local dialup number here!! Pss, you are right about the ATHM board. they don't want to hear anything negative about the stock. except for ahhaha and a couple of others, they are all a bunch of day traders and cheerleaders. one guy is even giving his ATHM stocks to God!
