NAPM releases annual revisions to purchasing indices

TEMPE, Ariz. Jan 14 (Reuters) - The National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) released on Friday revisions to the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), based on annual adjustments to seasonal factors from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The December 1999 PMI was upwardly revised to 56.8 from 55.5. The prices paid component for December was also upwardly revised to 68.3 from 65.7.

The revisions affect PMI data back to 1996, as well as the diffusion indices for New Orders, Production, Employment, Supplier Deliveries, Inventories, Prices, New Export Orders, and Imports included in the NAPM Report on Business.

NAPM said the revisions would be effective for comparisons for the January NAPM report, scheduled for release Feb 1.
