That's a matter to take up with the people who have studied Intel. I will say that if they did make the number because of capital gains on investments the bullish spin is total crap.

That's OK with me. I am comparing alternate investments. Most are quoted in nominal terms. I try to pick companies with the strength to pass on cost increases. I measure performance partly by unit/volume growth.

There was a time that I used inflation + a required real rate as one of my models (I use a lot of models), but I have since become more informed and less naive. (bg)
